2017 Festival News
Hello Dancers Everywhere
We are delighted to announce that entries are now open for our 2017 Festival, which is to be held at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking. Click here to find details of our adjudicators as well as two further pages (one for schools and one for private entries) containing all of the information about the Festival and all of the entry forms and other forms you will need to submit your dancers’ details. The closing date is 15th October and as 2017 will be an All England year, we are anticipating a large entry so please don’t wait until the last minute before submitting your entries.
For 2017, we are introducing a new class to our Festival, Acro. Although this is not a class that is included in the All England syllabus, we have received a lot of interest from around the area in this discipline and we are hoping to encourage Acro for the future. We also continue to offer Street dance sections as well and in this way, we hope to widen the scope of our Festival and encourage the development of the art of dance in general.
As you will probably be aware, The All England Dance Competition has made a number of changes to their syllabus, following the 2015 competition, and these changes are now included in our syllabus also. The most notable of these are the revised timings for some dance categories, the revised age groupings for duets, trios, quartets and groups, as well as a new minimum group size of eight, rather than five, as in the past.
Also, the changes that were introduced, at the insistence of Surrey County Council, to our entry forms last year continue to apply and are reflected in our forms again this year. We will greatly appreciate your continued co-operation in complying with these new regulations, which are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of child protection measures.
We are pleased to confirm that we will, once again, be running our ever-popular additional competitions, Starlets for dancers aged 7 to 12 and Starcatcher for dancers aged 13 and over (on the qualifying date of 1st September 2016). As in the past, these are competitions that carry cash prizes for the first, second and third places, so please take a look at the details of these competitions on the relevant page.
As always, we are at your disposal to answer any questions you may have and the whole team is looking forward to seeing you again in January.
