After two long years combatting Covid-19 and all that that has entailed, it’s good to be back planning another Festival and hoping that we’re not too rusty after our enforced lay-off. It seems hardly possible that our last Festival was held in 2019 and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the situation with the pandemic will allow to meet again at the Rhoda next March.

We are pleased to introduce our adjudicators who will be working with us for our return:

Jayne Wing FISTD

Jayne trained at the Drusilla Duffill School of Theatre Dance in Sussex. She has competed in the All England finals as a child and has been involved in the festival movement for most of her life. After a brief spell of working professionally both the west end, alongside Sheila Hancock in Annie, and around the UK, in 1987 she opened the Pirouette Academy of Dance in Leicester. This is now an ISTD approved dance centre teaching both children and adults in all genres of stage dance. Jayne has been the principal of the school, which boasts excellent examination results, since the beginning. Jayne's students have been Janet Cram finalists and class prize winners and finalists at the Imperial Classical Ballet awards, and many pupils from the school now have careers in performing or teaching dance.

Jayne has been an examiner and committee member with the ISTD National Faculty for a number of years and holds her fellowship status with the modern and tap faculty and is an approved tutor for Modern, Tap and National, teaching all units of DDE to students, both at her own school and tutors at two approved dance centres in the East Midlands as well as being the Regional Representative for the area. Jayne has been the recipient of the Helen Wingrave award and used this to further her knowledge and qualifications in National dance. She is an adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals and All England Dance.

Over the past 35 years Geoff has had a varied career with highlights being in the musicals Cats, Heathcliff, A Chorus Line, Godspell, Divorce me Darling and many more! As a singer he was a member of Stutz Bear Cats, the international harmony group, for several years.

He regularly guest lectures for major dance associations and also runs the school Elwick Academy of Dancing, started by his mother 72 years ago. As an adjudicator, he works for both The British and International Federation of Festivals and All England Dance.

Geoff is based in London but also in the North East on a weekly basis.
