REGULATIONS

The Festival's Child Protection Policy Statement and Creating Safer Festivals for Everyone Statement are deemed to be incorporated into these Regulations

  1. Entry to the Festival is deemed to be an acceptance of these regulations and teachers/parents/guardians acknowledge receipt of copies of the Festival's Child Protection Policy Statement and Creating Safer Festivals for Everyone Statements and confirm that they understand and accept their responsibilities under said Statements.

  2. The competition is for amateurs, students who do not derive the main part of their income from the teaching or performance of dance, students who have not entered into full time dance education and students who are not currently performing or under contract with a professional company.

  3. The age of entrants is taken as of 1st September in the year preceding the year of the competition. Accuracy of birth dates is essential as incorrect age may lead to disqualification and, in cases of doubt, a birth certificate may have to be produced. The age of the eldest entrant in a DUET/TRIO/QUARTET/GROUP determines the correct CLASS.

  4. Teachers, parents and guardians are asked to consider carefully the choice of costumes, lyrics and choreography used by contestants, bearing in mind the age of the entrant(s) and the sensibilities of the audience. Offensive presentation may lead to disqualification of the entrant(s) from further participation in the Festival

  5. Entry fees are not refundable under any circumstances.

  6. The Organisers may combine Sections or Classes when the number of entries is small, divide a Class when the number of entries is large and have the power to make any other regulations or interpret, or qualify any of these Regulations as occasion may arise.

  7. The Festival publishes with its Syllabus each year a closing date by which all entries must be received in order to be included. However, the Festival also reserves the right to close entries in advance of the published date if demand for places, in the Festival Organisers' opinion, exceeds the amount of time that is available for the proper running of the Festival.

  8. In the event that a session of the Festival is running early, the organisers reserve the right to bring forward the running time of subsequent sections from those advertised in advance in the programme, so as to avoid delays in the run-in of the session and maintain and even flow to the proceedings.

  9. The Festival does not accept liability for the infringement of copyright, recording or performing rights arising out of any entrant's accompaniment or performance. It contributes to a Group License to cover payment of fees for the use of recorded music at its events. Teachers and Choreographers using their own recordings created on CDs from commercial  or professional recordings are advised that they are themselves responsible for seeking permission to re-record from the recording companies.
